Robert Batlle is World Champion!
Robert Batlle drove a fantastic race as he dominated the hour long race, once Robert got past poleman Ty Tessmann 10 mins in he soon began to open up a lead which Ty was unable to ever close down, 2008 World Champ Atsushi Hara completed the podium now having won his first Worlds, 2nd in his second Worlds and now 3rd at his third Worlds. Warm up TQ David Ronnefalk passed Maifield late on to take 4th, Maifield finished 5th, Yannick 6th and former World Champion Cody King would end up 7th. Fuel strategy played it’s part in Hara’s 3rd place finish as Lutz hit issues early on along with Lee Martin with fuel clunk issues, Taylor Petersen retired with 5 mins to go and Dakotah Phend would finish 9th behind Josh Wheeler in 8th.
The semis were filled with major incidents, the demise of many a potential winner including top qualifier Elliott Boots, Jared Tebo not to mention Ryan Cavalieri, Jerome Aigoin, Reno Savoya all hit with problems. In the end Robert Batlle proved untouchable in he final, Tessmann tried in earnest to close a gap that Robert managed with expert experience, he gives Spain their first World title in 1/8 Buggy, Europe their first since 2004 and Mugen their 3rd title.
